We here at Webinato Customer Support would like to help explain why our services were unavailable for most of the day on Friday, October 21, 2016.

This was due to a massive internet outage, caused by a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack on one of the countries largest providers of Domain Name System (DNS) services; Dyn.

Here is a recap of the event, as reported by by national news agencies:

This attack severed the connections of hundreds of thousands of websites, disrupting businesses and services of all sizes. Outside of Webinato, some major websites whose services were greatly affected included, but were not limited to:

  • Twitter
  • PayPal
  • Spotify
  • and many more

During the time of this outage, Webinato's servers were 100% operational, and it was due to this national internet outage that our services were unreachable. While our engineers monitored the status of our servers during this outage, there was nothing they could do to restore service while the DDoS attack was ongoing, since this attack was directed at the national internet infrastructure itself.

As of the time of this writing, all Webinato services are fully accessible. If you are still unable to access your room due to the server not being reachable, or if your browser gives you a DNS error, please do the following:

  • Try restarting your web browser, or your computer, to reset your internet connection
  • Try deleting your web browser's cached files; How do I clear my browser cache?
